living with us.  Six years ago.  

I didn't get it then, I don't get it now, and it's now in a lovely 
Condo in Florida, waiting for someone to cook rice.

But evidently, if you're Korean, you can only cook rice in your rice cooker.

Hmmmm.  Must be like kimchee for breakfast; another thing I don't get.

When I was at seminary a Japanese guy live across the hall from me.  
I had a small refrigerator.  He kept eggs and butter there.  

Every night he fired up his rice cooker to make a snack.  After the rice
was cooked, he would put some in a bowl, with a little butter.  Then he
whipped an egg with a little soy sauce, and poured the raw egg over the
hot rice.  The egg cooked to about soft-scrambled consistency.
Delicious!

One evening he was very upset. He had two sets of chopsticks -- one
plain, the other lacquered.  He could find only one of each.  He said he
couldn't eat.  I asked why he didn't just use the two mismatched
chopsticks.  He said you only do that at a funeral. ???

Ahhh!  My husband lived in Korea once upon a time.  He would never defile the 
rice cooker by putting anything other than rice in it.  Anything else is 
considered an act of  blasphemy!
