And, from LA (Lower Alabama, otherwise known as NW Fla.)

Turnip Green Soup:

1 lb young trunip greens (w/turnips)
butter
1 cup chopped onions
salt
1 tsp. sugar
5 cups or so chicken/duck stock
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 pt. half & half
1/4 cup grits
some pepper

clean and wash greens
peel and cube the turnips
saute the turnips in butter about 10 minutes or so (holding nose,,, worst part of this entire exercise)
add and saute onions (and bell pepper & celery if you want).
add salt sugar and about a third of the stock blend, add lemon and set aside.

in another skillet, add the greens to some melted butter and saute until just"crisp-tender"
Add salt, sugar and remaining 2/3 stock.

Remove from heat and cool.

Puree the greens in a blender or food processor and add to the turnips and re-heat.

Add the grits and half-and-half; salt & pepper to taste.
