Pound Cake
Printer version of this recipe

Wasn't Martha Washington's recipe something like

1 pound butter
1 pound sugar
1 pound eggs
1 pound flour

I don't recall her using lemon:

Lemon tree very pretty and the flower is sweet
but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.
