Well, yu'all. Scotch is made in old bourbon barrels and tastes real swampy to me. I was weaned locally on Early Times, Kentucky Tavern, Glenmore, and Markers Mark. Some of the new fancy and costly Woodfords , Bookers, and Bakers are nice and zingy, but way expensive. Just use a little water and ice if you don;t drink it neat. The following is a Mint Julep recipe passed down from the finest Kentucky sources. A fair Bourbon Take three or four mint leaves and two or so tablespoons of the sugar. Return to the bar fill another cup with ice and add bourbon. Margaret Ann ------------------------------------------ There are, IIRC, two, perfectly fine - and Anglican, cuz they came from
Sewanee, recipes for REAL juleps, to be found on the St. Sams recipe
pages....I know, I posted 'em.... ------ http://recipes.stsams.org/recipes/mintjuleps.html ------ Ah, but to be fair Margaret Ann's recipe will get there eventually as well. The Swede has upgraded me AGAIN and I'm in the process of re-installing and fine tuning everything on the box. { sigh } It's not only teenage boys who want to be able to brag about their *over-clocked, over-vented, over-cooled* etc. ------ It is a real recipe, but it is also a joke about avoiding the julep. ------ Uh, because it's there? That's not a fair question for a Sewanee alum. A party's a party. If you didn't go to Louisville, you could stay on the mountain and still behave like the proper southern gentleman, till the sun came up or you looked in a mirror.
It was rumoured that with the advent of coeds, the Mountain might find
other things to do than party. Rumours only. |
