Printer version of this recipe

Stew gently 2 pounds of lean ground beef in very little water, until cooked through (or use lean beef, cook until tender, cool and chop finely).

Add 1 lb of chopped beef suet,
4 pounds peeled, cored and chopped tart apples,
3 pounds sugar,
3 pounds currants (washed),
2 pounds raisins (washed),
1/2 tsp mace,
grated rind and juice of 2 oranges and 1 lemon,
1 pint of boiled cider (optional some of this is whiskey),
1/2 cup red currant jelly (clear - I make my own).
Mix.

This can be bagged in pie size plastic bags and frozen.
(Apparently it also keeps in a stone jar in a cool place - probably with a lot of whiskey!).
Absolutely delicious and I often throw in orange pieces and lemon pieces as well as the juice.

Enjoy! -- Elizabeth (Blake) Kipp Date: Tue, 16 Dec 2003 Subject: Re: Holiday Humor
