spacer Italian Sausage Stew

We have a wonderful German butcher here. Once, a while back, I bought some hot Italian sausage there... then, didn't know what to do with it.

I was talking to my friend Ganni who is a professor of theater at the University of Malta, and asked him what to do with it... he said... make this stew.

Ganni's Italian Sausage Stew
Printer version of this recipe

Saute the sausage with onion and pepper.... of course!

Then, I was instructed to add all the fresh vegetables to make stew
(I went to Wynn Dixie on the golf cart and got them frozen)...
tomatoes... from a can (he thinks I pealed them).

The trick to this stew is the spice:
about a tablespoon of cumin
half a tablespoon of nutmeg
4 whole cloves and
2 bay leaves
Very mediterranean!

I have added these spices to other stews and soups.... wonderful anywhere you use it "in context".

Someone gave me a bag of limes today so I went to the butcher and bought some grouper... gonna make ceviche tonight :)
