Not a exact recipe but here is how I do it.

Fried Green Tomatoes
Printer version of this recipe

Slice several green tomatoes about 1/2 inch thick.
Lay the tomatoes on paper towels to absorb excess moisture.
Combine some flour, corn starch, and corn meal in a pin tin.
Beat an egg with some water or milk in a bowl.
Heat about 1/2 inch of oil in a large frying pan.
Dip each slice of tomato into the egg mix and then cover with the flour/corn meal.
Carefully add the tomato slice to the hot shortening.
After several minutes turn each slice over and finish cooking.
Don't be in a hurry to turn over the tomatoes.
Place the tomatoes on paper towels to drain before transferring to a serving platter.
Serve and enjoy.

Options: add some finely chopped onion or onion powder to the flour/corn meal mixture.
