Well, it's Lent, and it's ice fishing season, so: The following is useful particularly in places where you have to settle for what will hit the hook: FISH & MACARONI PIE 1 lb or so pickerel or other suspect fish Cheese sauce made as follows: Heat butter in pan & stir in flour. At the same time (assuming you have more than one burner on your stove) Put the fish and drained noodles in a pie dish or something similar; top with cheese sauce and put it under broiler until bubbly and just barely starting to brown (not even - just showing color).
