. . .I am a "real Southerner", and trust me, you don't have to buy any special equipment to make boiled peanuts.

All you need is a large pot ("Dutch oven" or soup pot) and water and salt. The peanuts need to be covered with water, and it should be very salty. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer until the nuts are soft.

That's all there is to it.
