Baked Potatoes - Jeffry's
Printer version of this recipe

. . . we bake potatoes in the oven at 350 degress F., after washing and drying them and putting a couple of punctures in them with a fork. Time for a fair sized potato is about 40 minutes, maybe a little less maybe a little more. Squeeze them to see if they are done. Serve with butter (my wife) or sour cream (me).

Can add a few chives if you want. Go fancy and put chopped green onions and bacon bits (real, not the baco-bits fakes) and you've got a main dish.

. . . baked potatoes should be baked. We do, of course, boil potatoes for soup, or prior to mashing them (although I suppose steaming would work there).

With a roast (which we have rarely) we prefer them oven browned -- quartered or halved and allowed to cook in the juices while the roast cooks. Not particularly healthy, because of the fat absorbed, but okay once in awhile.
