Variations on a Tuna Melt 

...A 'Tuna Melt'. What is it?

Molly:  
Tuna salad on a split and toasted bun, 
topped with cheese slices 
and grilled until the cheese melts.

Evelyn: 
Grilled tuna salad and cheese sandwich; 
it's usually on rye bread or sourdough.  

Mimi: 
it's made on wheat with fried onions added. 

Richard: 
New Jersey Diner special.  
Two slices of toasted rye or crusty bread, 
scoop of tuna on each slice, 
slice of cheese on top, 
passed under the salamander to melt the cheese. 
Sometimes called "The happy Waitress" on some diner menus.
