St. Sam's and St. Bede's Recipe Pages Bon Appetit! --------------------------------------------- Broccoli Recipes Sally wrOte: > Talking of food ... surely no one in their right senses likes broccoli? Ken Peck I love broccoli. What you describe sounds overcooked. Lightly steamed it is delicious. I also concoct various dishes featuring it. For example: Broccoli lightly sautéed in olive oil with chopped red and yellow peppers for color, basil and garlic, mixed into an out of the bottle alfredo sauce over fettuccini. Sometimes I'll add some chopped ham for protein. Broccoli lightly sautéed in olive or peanut oil with walnuts shrimp with Schewan sauce served over rice. But sometimes, I'll just steam it put a bit of melted butter on it. If it's limp, its overcooked. --------------------------------------------- Sibyl Smirl: I like broccoli steamed with cheese sauce, and I'm not picky about what sort of cheese or cheese food goes into the sauce. --------------------------------------------- Elizabeth Kipp: I chop it up into salads as we are very fond of broccoli and grow it in the yard. Fresh off the plant it is quite delicious and steamed ever so lightly with a sharp cheddar cheese sauce any child will eat it. --------------------------------------------- Alb Tross: I may not be in my right senses but I like broccoli. I don't like the smell of it when it is cooked and then chilled. But if it is fresh, I like it either raw with some sort of vegetable dip or lightly steamed with lemon juice and pepper. --------------------------------------------- Mimi Bennett-Aronson: Fie on you! Fresh steamed broccoli is among my favorite veggies, and I love veggies. Rinse the broccoli, shake off the excess water, Put it in a microwave container covered with plastic wrap, and zap about 4 minutes. Delicious.
