St. Sam's and St. Bede's Recipe Pages Bon Appetit! --------------------------------------------- Baked Potatoes - Sibyl's And microwaving in plastic wrap also steams it. Personally, if I'm not using the oven for other things, and only want a baked potato, I just scrub it well and put it in the microwave naked-- about 10-12 minutes for my mike, depending on the size of the potato. This makes a dry skin, just the way I like it, and the inside is plenty moist. If I want to get fancy, I might brush the skin with olive oil or butter before I put it in. I don't notice the potato losing any flavor this way, though I don't notice potatoes _having_ much flavor of their own in the first place! ;^) Flavor comes with what I put on it afterward, which might be anything. Sometimes I take it out, split it, and put some cheese in the split, sometimes with other things depending on what's handy, and put it back in for a minute or two to melt the cheese. If you like sour cream on it, yogurt is a nice low-fat alternative. Date: Sat, 22 Nov 2003 From: Sibyl Smirl Subject: Re: Honey Garlic Rib Stir Fry
